Vandaag hebben we niet geskied. We zijn even naar het Outlet center geweest in Silverthorn, een kwartiertje rijden van Dillon. Het klonk heel leuk, maar was maar klein, dus waren we snel klaar. We zijn toch al van die shoppers.... Ook hebben we de ski's ingeleverd bij Columbine.
De rest van de dag stond in het teken van inpakken en vooral tv kijken. De hele middag en een deel van de avond heeft The Weather Channel aangestaan. Er werd zwaar weer voorspeld voor Colorado en zeer zware stormen in het mid-westen tot en met Atlanta, waar we over moesten stappen.

Friday, March 2, 2012 may be known as one of the worst tornado outbreak for early March on record. Eighty sightings of tornadoes were reported between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Friday. Friday's outbreak could include more tornadoes in one day than typically occur over the entire month of March in the United States.

(AP) – A powerful winter storm that covered parts of Colorado with up to 6 feet of snow crept east across the Plains Saturday, knocking out electricity to thousands in Nebraska as the blanket of heavy, wet precipitation downed power lines and made travel treacherous.We vroegen ons dan ook serieus af hoe de weg naar Denver zou zijn en ook of de vlucht wel zou gaan en zo ja, hoe en hoe laat. En dan ben je in Atlanta, hoe gaat het daar dan verder, want we zagen beelden van volledig verwoeste dorpen door tornado's, zelfs met doden.

Currently, 200am CST 3/2/2012 — Southwest Missouri — severe is breaking out — Hail detected , severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the NWS — be prepared for quick tornado development , and strong damaging winds.
Also.. North Georgia heading towards South Carolina — damaging winds detected , strong cell thunderstorms reported.
This is JUST THE START of todays severe weather . BE PREPARED these storms are fast moving and very strong.

The parent low of the system continued to deepen as it raced towards southern Michigan and dragged its attendant cold front into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. Storms continued to erupt throughout the region and easily attained rotating updrafts. The result was eight tornadoes and many reports of large hail. The strongest wind shear maximized over southern Indiana, where twin supercells tracked from Dubois County to Trimble County. The lead supercell produced an EF4 tornado that stayed on the ground for 49 miles. It was the region's strongest tornado since May 28, 1996 and the deadliest since the Brandenburg Tornado of April 3, 1974.
Heel spannend om het een keer mee te maken, maar we maakten ons best zorgen voor de dag van morgen.
Maar het leven gaat door en dus hebben we 's avonds gewoon weer bij Arapahoe Café gegeten.Toch een aardige tent.
